Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

The short version: Pacekeeper keeps your running data on your device. The app has no internet permission, there is no server, and the developer never receives your data.

1. Summary

  • No account, sign-in, or registration is required.
  • No analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party SDKs.
  • The app does not hold the internet permission, so it cannot transmit data off your device.
  • Your runs, routes, goals and settings are stored only on your device.
  • The developer cannot see, access, or recover your data.

2. Information the app uses

Location (precise and approximate)

While a run is in progress and the app is open, Pacekeeper uses your device's location to measure distance, pace and your route. Location is used only for the app's running features (live pace coaching, split tracking, and the route shown on a completed run). It is not used for advertising or profiling, and it is not sent anywhere.

The app requests foreground location only. It does not request background location, so it does not track you when you are not using the app.

Data stored on your device

When you complete a run, the app saves the following to its private storage on your device:

  • the run's date and time, distance, duration, average pace, and per-split data;
  • the GPS coordinates of the route you ran;
  • whether the run met your goal; and
  • your goal (distance and target time) and your app settings (units, pace tolerance, audio and haptic cue preferences).

Device features

  • Vibration — a short haptic cue when your pace drifts outside the tolerance band.
  • Text-to-speech — speaks short coaching phrases such as "On pace", "Ease off" or "3 kilometre". This text is generic and contains no personal information. Speech is produced by your device's system text-to-speech engine.

3. What the app does not do

  • It does not request or hold the internet permission.
  • It does not create accounts or store credentials.
  • It does not include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking software.
  • It does not access your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera, or health data.
  • It does not share, sell, rent or transfer your data to anyone.

4. Sharing of information

None. We do not share, sell, or disclose your information to any third party. Because the app has no network access and no backend, there is nothing for the developer to receive or share.

5. Data retention and deletion

Your data remains on your device until you remove it. You can:

  • delete all runs at any time via Settings → Data → Delete all runs; or
  • delete individual runs from the History screen; or
  • uninstall the app, which removes its local data.

Because the developer never receives your data, we cannot delete it for you — deletion happens on your device.

Android system backup

Your device's Android backup feature may include Pacekeeper's data in the backup of your apps if you have enabled backup, storing it in your own Google Account. This is a feature of your device and operating system, controlled by your system settings, and is not accessible to the developer. You can disable it in your device's system backup settings.

6. Security

Your run data is held in the app's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot read. Since no data is transmitted, there is no data in transit to intercept. The security of your data therefore depends on the security of your device (for example, your screen lock and device encryption).

7. Children's privacy

Pacekeeper is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listing.
